Lucet
A Lucet is a historic fiber tool used to create strong, square-braided cords—perfect for drawstrings, decorative trims, lacing, and more. Dating back to Viking and Medieval times, the Lucet works by looping yarn around its prongs in a rhythmic, repetitive motion that produces a dense, non-stretch cord. Unlike finger braiding or kumihimo, Lucet cord is created without the need for tensioning tools or setups, making it highly portable and meditative to use.
Ideal for fiber artists who appreciate heritage techniques, the Lucet offers both function and creative freedom—whether you’re finishing handwoven garments, adding handmade touches to knitwear, or exploring historical fiber arts.
Each of DTD's unique Lucets are handmade of different varities of wood and therefore will have differences with the dimensions (especially weight).
