Dealgan

Dealgan

A Dealgan (pronounced jal-a-gen) is a traditional Scottish drop spindle used for hand-spinning wool into yarn. With its distinctive whorl shape and vertical shaft, the Dealgan has been part of Scotland’s textile heritage for centuries. Its unique design allows for smooth spinning and easy storage of spun yarn, making it a favorite among fiber artists and history enthusiasts alike. Whether you're a seasoned spinner or a curious beginner, the Dealgan offers a beautiful and functional connection to traditional craft.

Traditionally, Dealgan (also called Farsadh or Fairsaid) are made for people on the move, especially sheep herders. Dan has kept this in mind by making them an easy size to stash in a pocket or bag when you’re on the go.

  • Diameter: 1.25–1.5 in (3.2–3.8 cm)
